Should also add if there is going to be a market place like PS each module page should have a support/issue section like the Drupal one where people can post support questions and then have the owner/community post fixes. This could potentially make module writers put more effort into them or make it easier to remove abandoned modules. As it is right now for PS or OC you really have to take a chance on buying a module and hoping it’ll be supported for a while.
Ahh nice you figured it out. How did the rest of the migration go?
Perfectly fine I should say, i’m very impressed
The only thing that broke was because I added a special function to Smarty in config/smarty.config.inc.php and the file got updated in the process. This was to be expected so not really an issue, reverted to my version and all is fine again.
I’m not sure what @Random is using but I know here in Japan there are various non-instant payment options that likely work the way he describes.
For example it’s possible for people to pay for purchases at convenience stores. After checkout the site emails a code to enter into a terminal at the convenience store, the terminal prints out a slip, and the customer goes to the register and pays. Credit cards are much more common here than they used to be but there are still a LOT of people who don’t use them online or don’t have them at all. Convenience stores are everywhere and this system works well. Customer might pay a few hours or even a day or two later.
Bank transfer payments are also common here and there are systems set up to make this much more automatic. Each transaction can be assigned a different bank account number to pay into so the system can tell which invoice has been paid.
So there are definitely modern systems in advanced economies that don’t have instant payment verification.
Nice to have such a module! Maybe it should even become part of the standard image handling page. Still I wonder a bit why there’s an “original copy” switch. Hard to imagine a reason to not keep the original unless one never again wants to regenerate thumbnails. Same for the “progessive” switch: there’s AFAIK no point in having non-progressive JPEGs.
Each switch, choice, checkbox comes at a cost:
Every user has to learn about the “better” position of that switch/choice/checkbox. This is time consuming and if the outcome of that learning is the same for virtually all shop operators, a waste of efforts.
More options require more code, so more chances for bugs, additional code maintenance burden, larger memory footprint, etc.
@Traumflug I totally agree with your whole 2 cents! I came running over here (and am still out of breath) as soon as I saw those ImageMagick choices.
What person besides a graphics designer (possibly) would know what lanczos & the other “resize filter types” are? The only filter I heard of is Gaussian but would have to Google it to know what it is and what it does.
I have no idea what “PNG data encoding filter”, progressive jpegs, blur, fuzz, etc (you get the ‘picture’. pun intended!) are used for.
Of all the settings, the only ones that make sense to me are “turn on” ImageMagick and keep original images known as “Original copy”, which is an oxymoron, but …
