  1. @daokakao said in How do I use a csv import for a large amount of colors & sizes for a single product?: Sandbox is kind a sandox for playing around with new features/modules/themes, et c. - i.e. this is testing installation of your shop, not for production. I use more windows PC, so it would be bit difficult to explain some things about macs, but this isn't impossible :) Is this something I have to pay for? I can try it without bothering you. :) I'm currently using a test copy of my site in TB.
  2. @jnsgioia said in How do I use a csv import for a large amount of colors & sizes for a single product?: Did you save it with field delimeter - comma and import it (in tb bo) with field delimiter comma multivalue ; (opposite of what I told you above) @jnsgioia said in How do I use a csv import for a large amount of colors & sizes for a single product?: Did you save it with field delimeter - comma and import it (in tb bo) with field delimiter comma multivalue ; (opposite of what I told you above) on admin csv import page: field separator is a semicolon and the multiple value is a comma
  3. @jnsgioia so now I have size;color and categories are: Dog Clothes; Dog Hoodies I tried to import and now I got this again: Errors occurred: Dog Clothes; Dog Hoodies (ID: null) cannot be saved Property Category->name is not valid Dog Clothes; Dog Hoodies cannot be saved Validating data...
  4. @DaoKakao I don't know how. I wish I did! By the way I use a Mac. I tried Xampp, etc last year and just couldn't get it to work. Is that what you mean for the sandbox? Yes, I'd like to try your version of the CSV. Thank you.
  5. @jnsgioia Is this correct? To open csv's: To open the csv: select comma. Then go to save as copy. On the first popup box make sure “edit filter settings” is checked. Then on the second popup box make sure the field delimiter that is checked is the semicolon. Make sure the box that says “save cell content as shown” IS CHECKED. on admin csv import page: field separator as a semicolon and the multivalue as a comma
  6. What I need is to be able to create .ods and work on it and convert it to .csv when I'm ready.
  7. OK I'll change back to size;color but all we are doing is reversing all the work that was fixed two months ago. :(
  8. I need to see why I have these errors suddenly, even though those categories have existed since the very beginning. Errors occurred: Dog Clothes; Dog Hoodies (ID: null) cannot be saved Property Category->name is not valid Dog Clothes; Dog Hoodies cannot be saved
  9. No that isn't the problem. It was changed months ago by Mdekker. That's why I wrote @DaoKakao that note just now. Here is how I work with spreadsheets: I first save as .ods so I can highlight and copy and replace as much as I need to. Once it looks good, I convert it to .csv. Then I upload it.
  10. @jnsgioia I know you can't spend your whole life trying to fix this, so don't worry about leaving. :)
  11. @daokakao by the way, I sent you the actual whole original .ods but things have changed since then. The combination names are size, color since that was fixed, instead of size;color. I removed all the products except the hoodie for all these tests. The image url is also updated in my latest ones. Just letting you know.
  12. So I tried twice and got this error now: Errors occurred: Dog Clothes; Dog Hoodies (ID: null) cannot be saved Property Category->name is not valid Dog Clothes; Dog Hoodies cannot be saved Before, it was working with categories field like this: Dog Clothes; Dog Hoodies
  13. OK, moving full steam ahead - for the 20th time today! lol
  14. @DaoKakao When this gets straightened out I'm going to change the order of the columns to closely match the csv importer columns and I'll put my extra columns more towards the end.
  15. @jnsgioia I'm saving my csv again. For the second window, do I check the box that says "save cell content as shown"? Or just use field delimiter of semicolon?
  16. Tried that. Now to try importing again.
  17. @jnsgioia said in How do I use a csv import for a large amount of colors & sizes for a single product?: @alwayspaws Your newly named file is right! You just need to open it using the semicolon checked not the comma. Let me try that.
  18. I tried again with the original .ods file with a comma. Clicked okay. Clicked "save as" csv and checked the "edit filter settings". Clicked Save. The export dialog box opens and I selected semicolon for the field delimiter. Text delimiter had the quote mark so I left it alone. Save cell content as shown is checked. Clicked okay. My file looks normal until I go to import it. Then it looks like above.
  19. Something is wrong. I may have to reinstall openoffice calc. I followed what you said @jnsgioia To open csv's: To open the csv: select comma. Then go to save as copy - firstly there is no "save as" - I decided to add a word to save it as a newer file. On the first popup box make sure “edit filter settings” is checked. Done Then on the second popup box make sure the ; is selected as the field separator. Done Went to CSV import to import it and the data is wrong. I reopened the file and the data is wrongly formatted there, too. Correct formatting screenshot before saving as - meaning renaming it: Formatting is wrong when I try to reopen the same file:
  20. @jnsgioia Thank you so much for the settings and the screenshots. I will do this as soon and get back with the results. I appreciate your time as usual! :-)
  21. @daokakao I match the column headers before I do imports. With my usual spreadsheets I have one or two other special columns. Hopefully by the time you get back I’ll have good results to show you.
  22. @daokakao I've imported just combinations, used ^ as field delimiter and semicolon as value delimiter. Also when exported as csv i used option to embrace string fields in double quotes. I need size and color. Were you able to preview what it looks like? Thank you.
  23. Can one of you please tell me both things together? How top open a .ods file and how to save it as .csv and close and open it again? I’m unsure of which go where. Thank you.
