Re-organizing products on a large scale

Hi,

My current product structure is quite a mess. Every product variant is it's own product in the system. For example, Product 1 with color blue, red and yellow is not one product with 3 combinations, but three seperate products: Product 1 red, Product 1 blue, Product 1 yellow. Each have the same tags, description, etc. but not the same images.

The product database contains about 10 000 of these products, which is probably about a couple hundred unique products when combinations are properly used as described above.

Is there any way to automate this conversion of seperate products to one product with combinations?

I don't know about automation the proccess, but I use store manager to save a lot of time to manage store especially products. You can give it try prestashopmanager.com they have 14 days trial.

@dosbiner Might be good to consider. Is it independent from the ecommerce CMS? So, could I use it for Magento too?

You might also consider Prestools. It depends what strategy to have in mind to convert products into attribute combinations.

@musicmaster Tbh Prestools doesn't look too professional.. I don't have a strategy yet, that's why I'm informing here to see if there are any possibilities for this at all :)
