How Do I create a child theme?

I have previously created a child theme in Prestashop 1.7. so I am familiar with that process.

I currently run TB with the default theme and want to customise it. How do I create a child theme?

I think this is not possible with tb, since it's a fork of 1.6.

What are you trying to achieve?

just some changing of styles etc. I cant find any way to change font / colors / background colors within the admin panel. Did I miss it?

You wanna change the look of Backoffice? Then you probably should checkout the setting for "employees". There you can chose different templates.

I want to change the appearance of the website.

Oh then you probably need to work with the css files of your theme.

yes - also im not sure why but it appears that the custom css (inserted in admin) is not overriding the css of the current theme.
