Make new return request send an email

Question

Currently, whenever a customer starts a return request, the only way to find out that such request was started is to look in the backoffice.

I would like to be notified by email when a new return request is started.

Surprisingly (to me at least), nobody seems to have asked this question before on this forum. Is there a way to achieve this behavior, one that I am missing?
