Messages submitted as an order comment - how to have these sent by email?

Currently messages submitted by customers as an order comment are not sent by email to the store owner but remain in the shop's customer service section. Is there a way for them to be sent by email?

The 'mailalerts' module passes the {message} variable to the template email 'new_order' sent to the store admin.
Check in this email template if you have such a variable.
