Tomik Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 what are the best must-have modules that you recommend everyone. paid/free everything is fine.
hfxracing Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 It depends on what you need or expect to get out of your e-commerce site.
wakabayashi Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 @Tomik My best tip: only use modules you really need. If you have modules installed, which you don't use, they will slow down your store. They can also make conflicts. So to answer your question, you should become more specific, what functions you need.

dianna Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 @tomik I would recommend you to visit Module Bazaar, where you can find different modules on Magento, Prestashop and many more
Anima Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 The only thing we need (Brazil) is a payment module. I am studying the vps and the implementation of Magento (which I resist for so long). We are a considerable public just go to the forum prestashop in the Portuguese section (practically there are only Brazilians)
wakabayashi Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 I was just on the Bazaar site. I wonder, what can be expected from something like this: https://www.modulebazaar.com/10-hours-development-services-prestashop.html :O
DavidP Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 @anima be careful of Magento. Sure the M1 support has been extended to June 2020 but it's not being developed for anymore. As for M2, Magento have fixed the mistake they made with M1 by ensuring the M2 Commerce (which has a hefty price tag circa $25k+ per year) has many features a company requires, especially for B2B, and not included these in the M2 Open Source version. Elastic Search is one of the things not in the free version of M2. If you're going to go Magento 2 Open Source, which is still full of bugs, you'll need to pay a lot for modules. The big problem on Magento is that it now has investors and shareholders who want money so they've got very little interest in supporting an open source version other than as a means to move them people onto their paid version. They've only extended the support on M1 because they don't want to risk losing potential future customers moving from M1 to other platforms. As I mentioned in another post, Thirty Bees could do with listing the supported payment gateways; if you could identify a payment gateway you use on PrestaShop you could contact the developers to find out if it'll be supported on TB.
Anima Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 @DavidP Thank you for reporting. I have no option, I have 3 stores standing for almost 1 year waiting for a solution for TB. I have already talked to the developers of the modules they consider tb very beginner and no users yet. I started my studies in PHP 2 months ago, but I see that I will need a lot more to develop / correct modules besides not find any material about it to be able to advance in the studies. I can no longer leave the stores offline / bug, I am being severely charged and criticized. We are only selling in the physical store and under the national sales platforms (similar ebay and amazon)
wakabayashi Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 @Anima Why dont you hire a dev, if its only about a module? Many modules of prestashop work anyway out of the box and don't need any change...
Anima Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 After seeing a post above I started thinking about it, as the payment is by the hour and in fact they just need to correct / adapt an existing module I can still ask to build one for freight calculation. I'll see if I can, if I go, I'll leave it to everyone and ask them to be native speakers.
DavidP Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 @anima I feel your pain, I'm no dev, just a tinkerer but we'll be able to either resolve our payment gateway issue internally or buy a module that is supported by TB. However, I agree, it's too risky at the moment to jump ship to either TB or PS 1.7 and are still stuck on PS1.6. I've looked at every alternative out there and unfortunately the best option at the moment is to ride it out on PS1.6 - better the devil you know :). I'm hoping TB 1.0.4 is going to be suitable especially as PrestaShop dropped a big bombshell this month stating they're ditching symfony 2.8 in favour of 3.4 - this basically means 1.7.3 is pointless taking up as it's all change for 1.7.4, which will be the first opportunity to try stuff out if and when it lands. However the PS team are for want of a better word 'hackers playing around' who don't care about the merchant impact of their product, they only care about making money from the module store. I therefore have little confidence in PS1.7 ever being a suitable replacement. TB is the way to go but it just needs more support. Before you jump to another platform try out the TB 1.0.4 and get your dev to update the payment gateway. When the RC2 comes out I intend to install it and give it a thorough testing because we have to have a replacement for PS in the next few months and as it stands there really isn't anything better than TB (or PS1.6) in the open source arena.
Anima Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 @DavidP I just read a possible solution for the payment module (MercadoPago), but I'm having difficulty installing FileZilla on Linux Mint 18.3, installing it I'll see if the problem will be solved. I do not want to do the terminal I'm at my parents' house and the internet is horrible, it takes too long to give command. If the problem is not solved I'll see if I can get the money to pay a dev then I'll post it here. I have no problem sharing what I do, I want tb to be viable for Brazilians and in the future I may be working on providing services. The translation to pt-br has a great participation of mine, and I'll even go back there to see if there are more things to translate.
dianna Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 @wakabayashi We provide different modules on various platform like Prestashop, Magento, Wordpress etc. and the one you have mentioned is for extra customization and services that we are providing our customers other than the features available in that particular module, which they get from us.
hfxracing Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 @davidp I was in the same boat when it came to switching. In the end I picked a time that was not so busy for my business & took the plunge I got to tell you the team here helped me work though all the bugs I had. I still have some issues but they are not business impacting. I can address them again in jan 2019 when we have a down time. I would post what you need your payment gateway to do that prevents you from moving off PS 1.6. I bet they can solve it.
alwayspaws Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 @hfxracing I sure wish I was in your boat or even in the life jacket.
DavidP Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 @hfxracing I am going to try an update on one of my sites when 1.0.4 is released. There's really no point in trying to address stuff in 1.0.3 as there's hundreds of fixes between the two versions so whatever I try might be affected by the differences. When 1.0.4 is out I'll debug my payment gateway on the site that doesn't see many sales. My other two sites do get a lot more sales so I'll be ensuring all issues are resolved before I go live on them two.
hfxracing Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 @davidp That sounds like a good plan but just keep in mind some things if they do not work ask yourself does my business use that if the answer is no. Don't worry about it you can chip away as time goes on. Your payment gateway problem should not be a issue as this is pretty much the same code unless it relies on the template which they have changed. I don't use the TB Template yet as I have issues with it. Mostly likely for me I will not even look at 1.0.4 until next year sometime. You can bet there will be issues with it so I let everyone else work the bugs out I am trying to run a business not develop software. I will leave that to this team, just saying they are really good at offering to help so don't be afraid when the time comes for you to make a switch. I know I am happy with switching all my current issues I had with PS are gone and I got lots of help after I switched.
DavidP Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 @hfxracing waiting till next year isn't an option as PrestaShop 1.6.x is supposed to have support ended in October / November this year though given by PS current progress it's pretty much ended now! The risk is if they suddenly find security issues that need to be fixed, that's the thing to worry about - fortunately as it's not Magento / WordPress / Joomla there's a lot less to worry about since those seem to be the platforms hacked the most. Most security issues on PS are third-party modules. Unfortunately for us we need some complex stuff that is partly only available on TB/PS unless we want to go to a paid solution at $25k+ per year so it's really not an option. I'm mainly marketing / sales side as well though I've dev'd in the past (non-web) and given the options available I'll probably go back to doing some dev to add features we really need. There's a lot of work required in the B2B side so I'll try working on that towards the middle of the year. The dev guys here are working their ar$es off sorting out their own clients and the 1.0.4 issues so I'm not going to impose on them unless I absolutely need to. Once 1.0.4 is out I'll have a good go at it before I put my hands up :)
