alwayspaws
Before installing thirty bees, should I try a new theme with my live PS 1.6.1.11 site to make sure it works as expected?
Havouza
Testing with PS is no guarantee that it work with TB. Same with modules
alwayspaws
I'm trying to figure out how to check a new theme. Is your store on TB? I only have a test site and I'm going to start over.
jnsgioia
@alwayspaws Upload the new theme to your test site and see if it works. If you don't like it you can uninstall it and go back to the default theme.
jnsgioia
@alwayspaws I wouldn't test on a live site though.
alwayspaws
@jnsgioia Sounds good. Thanks! Wanted to do a couple of tests at the same time like testing the upcoming migration tool and the new theme. I guess I'd better slow it down a bit. :)

I'll test it on my developers site. Hate to spend money and then it doesn't work at all.
jnsgioia
I would, just do it all on your test site and then if you like it there you can move the whole shebang to your live domain. btw Siteground's backup function is a life saver :)
jnsgioia
@alwayspaws A lot of developers give you a money back guarantee if it doesn't work within the first month or two.

Siteground keeps several backups of your site. Very happy with them.

I contacted the theme developer and he said that he wasn't working with TB so I doubt he'd give me a refund.
Havouza
I would never trust a money back guarantee using TB

jnsgioia
@alwayspaws No, I am new to prestashop. And for my other sites I just built them by majorly modifying a free template.
alwayspaws
@jnsgioia You're doing pretty well for someone who is new. I began with Magento for year. wiped the site and began with PS 1.6 and now I'm going to wipe that site and use thIrty bees. That's the plan! jnsgioia
Well, I know php and html and am very familiar with databases. It is the hooks and modules that I am having to figure out. :|

Traumflug
A local installation is just fine for testing. sudo apt-get install apache2 libapache-mod-php mysql and one has a fine web setup accessible via http://localhost/. These webhosters use the same software, after all.
