vincentdenkspel
I'm trying to add a newsletter subscriber by hand in the backend of MailChimp. Since the latest version I have to add a Thirty Bees customer reference otherwise I can't add the new subscriber. Does anybody know how I can disable this? hfxracing
I am not seeing this in mailchimp are you getting it after you enter their name & e-mail address?
vincentdenkspel
After the field 'birthday' https://d.pr/i/NQsHBz
hfxracing
@vincentdenkspel wow I do not have that field in my mailchimp I asume you are using the official 30 bees module for the sync to mailchimp? & it's updated and all that good stuff? and the field is always there before you enter anything? Or is itr appearing after you enter a e-mail address?
vincentdenkspel
The field is always there
lesley
Is it there even if you create a new list?
vincentdenkspel
@lesley No, but the new list is not linked nor synced with the site
lesley
Makes sense then. The list synced with the site needs specific data. The reference should be the customer id in the back of the shop.
vincentdenkspel
@lesley Than my question still stands: how can I disable this or make it at least not mandatory? I only want one list and I want to be able to add new subscribers manually
lesley
You can't, the list connected to the store needs specific data from the store. It will break automations and things like that if you disable it.
vincentdenkspel
@lesley so how can I add a new subscriber than that is not a customer yet?
lesley
You cannot to that list. That list is specifically for the store to manage.
vincentdenkspel
@lesley So what should I do? Create a new list and sent the newsletter twice (once to the TB list and once to the 'manual list'?
lesley
That could work, yes. We have about 6 lists here we use, all through different channels. It allows us to segment things more.
vincentdenkspel
@lesley If I'm not mistaken you can segment within one list. No need to have several lists. Especially if they all receive the same newsletter/information. However, if this is the only way that I have no option. Maybe it is possible to make that field not mandatory in a future version. lesley
Making it not mandatory would break most of the important functionality of the module, so its not really an option. Yes, you can segment inside a list, and still can. But like I mentioned, lists should be used for channels. There is a difference in channel from someone that automatically comes over from your shop and someone you are wanting to add manually. Like some of our lists are : from 40 nuggets forum users shops that have been migrated new installations ect. They are different channels, with different purposes. vincentdenkspel
@lesley What I don't understand is the following: I have a MailChimp popup activated on my site. If someone wants to subscribe they have to fill in first and last name and e-mail address. Once that is done this person is added to the 'main' list (the list that is synced with the store.) Why is this address than 'accepted' without a TB customer reference number?
lesley
That would be a question for @mdekker
