LauraJ Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 Test emails to GMAIL are being returned Where do I begin to fix this error? Test emails to domain based emails work
lesley Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 Call A2 and complain, you use A2 hosting, right? Baring that, I can show you the DNS records to add.
datakick Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 as the reply states, gmail rejected the email because it did not pass SPF check You need to add SPF records to your dns, so email servers can verify that your server can send emails on your domain’s behalf
lesley Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 @datakick I am pretty sure what has happened is A2 Hosting has changed the mail provider on their servers and not updated dns records for users, or let users know. I had one the other day, that was the case, they were using mailchannels too.
LauraJ Posted January 24, 2019 Author Posted January 24, 2019 Thanks - I'll contact A2 ... appreciate the input!
lesley Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 This is what you likely should have for an spf record, v=spf1 a mx ptr include:mailchannels.net ?all That is what has fixed the couple I have worked on.
LauraJ Posted January 24, 2019 Author Posted January 24, 2019 I'm GREEN simple search tells me this is at the DOMAIN REGISTRAR.... not at the hosting? (domain not hosted at A2)
lesley Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 It depends where your name server records are hosted. A2 should be hosting them. I do have a question, in your shop, when you go to Presferences -> Store contacts, do you have a gmail address entered there? Or an email address on the domain of your store?
LauraJ Posted January 24, 2019 Author Posted January 24, 2019 (edited) gmail address I have no issue with changing that to a domain based email Edited January 24, 2019 by LauraJ
lesley Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 You need to use an address on the same domain as the store. The server is not authorized to send emails from the gmail domain.
LauraJ Posted January 24, 2019 Author Posted January 24, 2019 That worked!!! I honestly searched for where that email was connected for the longest time... Crazy. THANK YOU!
