Setting up Redis cache

movieseals

Question

Hi everyone,

Trying to setup Redis cache.  I have a single server, so I keep it at the server IP address.  The port seems OK too: 6379.  But what I am not clear on is what to write in Auth and Database ID.  Auth has nothing at all in it and Database ID is at 0.  Clicking on testing server makes everything go red.  I am not sure it activates at all.  It causes 500 error on some pages.

Hello,

you need to install also Redis server on your VPS: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-and-secure-redis-on-debian-9

Yes, I have done that.

My question is what do we put in auth?  The password?  If so, how safe is that?

What is Database ID supposed to be for?

Looks like you have Cpanel so this might be better.

https://www.rosehosting.com/blog/install-redis-and-redis-php-on-cpanel/

the deb tuts may help in general

You might see if you set up auth or not on redis.

Same tutorial testing redis on the server.

Also here is a PS tutorial Might be helpful. Not totally the same but could be useful.
