  1. I agree with you on alot of points but you will have to keep in mind that most of these nice people here are IT professionals and not commerce people. They are learning that side of it. I have IT background & its still very hard for me to say wait stop is this just a coding and make it pretty mod or feature or will this make me more money? It is hard to separate the two. I am now understanding that I should be promoting my business & getting more sales and not worrying how the code works or how pretty something is. My rule of thumb is "Will it benefit my business" "Will this grow my business" If the answer is no then I stay away from it. I understand where you are coming from & it's frustrating at times but I would rather see you offer help to the community then say all this & that is wrong with TB. I am sure the team is very busy and could use the help. Welcome to TB I am sure you will like it.
  2. @alwayspaws not worried at all I guess I was just pointing out that people will not be searching google for your categories they will however be looking for your product. Once they find it maybe then the category might be important to Nav around your site. The less steps or clicks a customer has to take is way better(people are lazy). I guess I failed to see why having the product underdog clothes was not as good as having a section called tee shirts. Better yet you could associate the product under both category's it would then not upset anything. Just my thoughts.
  3. Wish i had seen this sooner don't over complicate your life. Good rule of thumb. First question why did you decide to change the category around? I think I would have just created the new categories and then re associated my products to that new location. Then went into my webmaster tools on bing & goggle & told the bot to re crawl the new location. I am not saying that anything above you were told is wrong but think about all the time you spent teaching yourself about SEO 301 Redirects and how to code your htaccess file. All this time could have been spend trying to sell your product & fix the SEO issues with just the product(If Any) When people take to a browser to search they search by specifics Meaning exactly want they want the category is not important at that point it is if they want other items from your store. Easy navigation. Best of Luck hope my comments help in the future. Sell Sell Sell!
  4. @davidp That sounds like a good plan but just keep in mind some things if they do not work ask yourself does my business use that if the answer is no. Don't worry about it you can chip away as time goes on. Your payment gateway problem should not be a issue as this is pretty much the same code unless it relies on the template which they have changed. I don't use the TB Template yet as I have issues with it. Mostly likely for me I will not even look at 1.0.4 until next year sometime. You can bet there will be issues with it so I let everyone else work the bugs out I am trying to run a business not develop software. I will leave that to this team, just saying they are really good at offering to help so don't be afraid when the time comes for you to make a switch. I know I am happy with switching all my current issues I had with PS are gone and I got lots of help after I switched.
  5. @davidp I was in the same boat when it came to switching. In the end I picked a time that was not so busy for my business & took the plunge I got to tell you the team here helped me work though all the bugs I had. I still have some issues but they are not business impacting. I can address them again in jan 2019 when we have a down time. I would post what you need your payment gateway to do that prevents you from moving off PS 1.6. I bet they can solve it.
  6. I will clarify the up down arrow at first glance I thought was a quick up page down page. When you hover over them nothing tells you what they are for. So I am getting these up-votes and I am like I would like to be able to do that for a good post too. Just didn't know how to do it. Found this post & was told how to do it.
  7. @alwayspaws nope every forum is different. some you cannot until you reach a certain rep level some do not use it because it can be abused. It's not clear where the vote buttons where on this forum so I had to ask thanks
  8. I know this is a older post but how do you upvote a post?
  9. @mockob If you click the screen shots & go to image 6 it shows in black under the add to cart button. Unless that only effects 1.5 but if does not say it either way anything about that screen shot.
  10. @baarssen it does but not at $42.00 CAD it's over priced
  11. @lesley This one looks like it fits the bill too it lacks the option to go from vertical to horizontal. It gives me what I want but for others they should have the option.I will check to see if it's TB compatible.
  12. @mockob That one is pretty good it's lacking in a few area's ability to shut off the part that it adds to your add to cart that extra information does not need to be there if the customer has chosen to click add to cart we want them to finish that impulse & not get distracted. 2 for a product specific tab it add the word highlights now if you could edit that to whatever you wanted the tab to say we would have a winner here. Oh and you can't go vertical or horizontal via your choice.
  13. @zimmer-media Got a link to that I don't see it
  14. @zimmer-media There is a free one humm must see if i can find that. I seem to find they are either made so that it can only be added to a product or it can only be added as a global feature. I would like it to be able to do both. Your custom code edits might be a option only downside is when I upgrade the cart the edits get wiped and I would have to edit every product that needed the custom information on it.
  15. Hello I have a delima because this is a feature I would like my shop to have biggest problem I honestly do not feel it's worth the price. For me in my currency for this mod is $63.00. The mod I am looking for does this. Its Global it has vertical or horizontal options & you can display on products or category. If you have lots of products you do not have time to edit every product to add the same information. https://addons.prestashop.com/en/additional-information-product-tab/4892-product-extra-tabs.html So my question is there a way I can do this on the cheap. This should be worth no more then $20.00 $30.00 max but out of the box PS & TB are lacking on the product page only because not all questions can be answered for your customer on the product page. If you sell clothing then a sizing charts are important and both carts as demos show clothing & fashion but have no way of answering that question. Tabs can do this and you need both options(product or Global all products or Category's) or it's useless IMO because sizing charts differ from one manufacture to another. Also another question always is shipping or the return policy. With a tab I can display shipping estimates for these products. Return policy. We have the other core elements price buy or add to cart button & description. I am not sure why this is missing on so many shopping cart software's.The reason I stress this plugin have to be at low cost is that paid services like Shopify Woo & big commerce are starting to come down in price. If you keep adding $60.00 mods & then pay for a domain & hosting at some point you just better off going on the paid service. I guess my question is. Would the community be interested in making a cheap version or free version of this or can I be directed to where I can buy one without loosing my shirt in the process.
  16. @alwayspaws Simple rule Keep it Simple. The rest will follow once I started drafting a process & procedure to handle everything. The rest was easy. Hubspot is one of the better ones it will get you started.
  17. @alwayspaws Hey if I can save someone else taking 3 years to learn it's worth it.
  18. @alwayspaws Everything should be there Your dashboard should show your sales for each day. You just need to record everything somewhere. There might even be free crms out there. Like for example. I contact you via e-mail & say I want a toy for my dog I give you the part number & say I want to buy it. How do you handle & track this? I am not buying on your shopping cart but you would still want to keep my information on file so you can market to me later. I have learned that where ever a sale comes from take it. I stopped long ago forcing customers back through the website just so I could capture their information. I now have the attitude of you want something I am selling lets make the sale. The website is one channel. Now after a sale like the above example is done. I want to be able to follow back with you make sure you received your order & ask you to get on my subscriber list but if I do not save your information I cannot contact you and where it was not through the website I need somewhere to put your infor. My goal after this now that I have your e-mail is to market to you to come & buy again. There got to be a free CRM online somewhere if not you need a place to put this information until you do. Excel is a good choice but it does not integrate with a calendar so if your a good record keeper it's alot of work but the only choice if you cannot invest in a CRM.
  19. @alwayspaws I have been doing e com for about 7 years now but i am just a firm believer in a strong foundation. A customer database is key IMO but if it's not in the budget then you got to keep a record of customer data somewhere a spreadsheet might even be a good start. Mailchimp is great for customers who OPT to get mail & promo's in, but the database keeps records of so much more detail on each customer. Full history of every interaction. Knowledge is power. Knowing your customers goes a long way. Hey even if your on the ground level a sales flow or funnel and marketing flow are great foundations and a strong foundation allows you to scale up when the time comes and it will be easy because you have the foundation in place now.
  20. I don't let my store manage e-mails I use mailchimp for subscribers & mailmuch to get them. I use ACT by sage to handle all other e-mails to the customer. It's like salesforce customer CRM. This way I can setup my sales process as I find all the shops that are out there don't do a great job of that. I think Slick was on the right path here your store cannot send a e-mail that it does not have a template for. Let us know how you made out. Good luck
  21. check the e-mail just to be sure some people do not want to be contacted after they order and will change the e-mail address.
  22. I know I seen someone else with this issue but I tried multiple searches and cannot find the thread. If I mark a message as handled the new message stays there any Idea. Sorry for the double post but I cannot fine the topic.
