  1. @Havouza said in What's the best way to test new themes?: alwayspaws use Mac I'm glad you noticed:)
  2. @Traumflug said in What's the best way to test new themes?: A local installation is just fine for testing. sudo apt-get install apache2 libapache-mod-php mysql and one has a fine web setup accessible via http://localhost/. These webhosters use the same software, after all. Do I just open terminal and enter that command? I would like to create a local installation but I'm on a Mac and have already attempted MAMP & MAMP PRO. It's not for me. Is there any alternative?
  3. @jnsgioia You're doing pretty well for someone who is new. I began with Magento for year. wiped the site and began with PS 1.6 and now I'm going to wipe that site and use thIrty bees. That's the plan!
  4. @Havouza said in What's the best way to test new themes?: I have a VPS with 200 Gb SSL disks 16 gb guaranteed RAM and 100mbit minimum bandwidth. Pay 19 € Wow!!! If I ever have an actual live site running and making money maybe I can work my way up to that.
  5. @jnsgioia said in What's the best way to test new themes?: @alwayspaws No, I guess he wouldn't then. But how can you test it on his site to see if it would work with tb? Have you ever been given the option to test a theme? We're not talking about modules right now.
  6. @Havouza I don't trust money back guarantees on anything
  7. @Havouza said in What's the best way to test new themes?: I have a VPS with a Dropbox backup. take a copy every midnight. Works without any problem. Best 9 € per month I can spend I have a Dropbox account but no VPS - can't afford it. I also use Carbonite so I have automatic back ups that way.
  8. @jnsgioia said in What's the best way to test new themes?: @alwayspaws A lot of developers give you a money back guarantee if it doesn't work within the first month or two. I contacted the theme developer and he said that he wasn't working with TB so I doubt he'd give me a refund.
  9. @jnsgioia said in What's the best way to test new themes?: I would, just do it all on your test site and then if you like it there you can move the whole shebang to your live domain. btw Siteground's backup function is a life saver :) I have two test sites and one live site and was trying to get rid of one of them. Siteground keeps several backups of your site. Very happy with them.
  10. @jnsgioia said in What's the best way to test new themes?: @alwayspaws I wouldn't test on a live site though. I'll test it on my developers site. Hate to spend money and then it doesn't work at all.
  11. @jnsgioia Sounds good. Thanks! Wanted to do a couple of tests at the same time like testing the upcoming migration tool and the new theme. I guess I'd better slow it down a bit. :)
  12. I'm trying to figure out how to check a new theme. Is your store on TB? I only have a test site and I'm going to start over.
  13. Before installing thirty bees, should I try a new theme with my live PS 1.6.1.11 site to make sure it works as expected?
  14. When migrating to thirty bees should I replace my live site or first install thirty bees in a subdomain?
  15. @MockoB said in Safe maintenance strategy, shop cloning: @Traumflug I follow with interest your topic although I rather read Chinese :) I don't know why but I feel excited about your achievement :) Congrats! LOL! Same for me! It's wonderful to have a server admin / embedded developer devote so much time to thirty bees!
  16. I'm enthusiastic, too! :) The bolded part is so others will hopefully notice it and get motivated to help out. I'm referring to non-coders, actually. I've noticed how hard you've been working, since I get the github updates. Thank you very much for it. Wish I knew coding.
  17. @Traumflug Excellent screenshot. Please alert @twistcapmedia The docs are a work in progress and will only be done faster if more than two people contribute their time.
  18. Please try to contribute a little time to thirty bees modules, updates, documents and feature requests: https://thirtybees.com/contribute/ You don’t have to be a developer to contribute to our project. You can be a merchant, a user or someone who is monitoring thirty bees progress. If our community requests features, helps with the documentation, helps by reporting bugs or helps with the code, our progress will grow exponentially. Everything is in place to make it easy to help out and grow together! Devoting free time to help thirty bees develop will help us reach our goals much faster!
  19. It's both. I'm proofreading and the links have not yet been created or formatted. Also see what I said to twistcapmedia in reply to you.
  20. The manual is being worked on and will take time since only one person is writing it. I'm proofreading text only and the latest formatting comes later. If anyone wants to write any section of the manual, please contact @twistcapmedia and discuss it in case he's already written it. You'll be greatly rewarded with a feeling of immense satisfaction. :)
  21. @Traumflug The manual is being worked on and will take time since only one person seems to be writing it. Formatting links comes later. Alerting @twistcapmedia to your comment. Thank you. @twistcapmedia - let's get the width of the manual to be responsive and to be the optimal width for desktops.
  22. Thanks, as always, for contributing to thirty bees! Every contribution gets us to our goals faster!
  23. It will be taken care of.
  24. Stripe creates extra work so I dropped it for the shop I had before the last two shops. I will either fix it when Michael confirms or when that part of the docs is written in the manual.
