musicmaster Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 In the settings for the images in the back office you have three options: Use JPEG. Use PNG only if the base image is in PNG format. Use PNG for all images. However, they have exactly the same result when I upload a product image in .png format: only .jpg files.
tommat Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 If you uploaded image and then change from jpg to png it won't work even if you regenerate images. You need to upload image again.

If the .png image you uploaded has transparent background, you can check its .jpg thumbnails, they also have transparent background, because they are actually already in png format, but with a .jpg suffer fix. As for as I know, it's 100% okay to use .jpg suffix for png format images. 1
