alwayspaws Posted April 4, 2017 Author Posted April 4, 2017 @Traumflug said in What's the best way to test new themes?: A local installation is just fine for testing. sudo apt-get install apache2 libapache-mod-php mysql and one has a fine web setup accessible via http://localhost/. These webhosters use the same software, after all. Do I just open terminal and enter that command? I would like to create a local installation but I'm on a Mac and have already attempted MAMP & MAMP PRO. It's not for me. Is there any alternative?
alwayspaws Posted April 4, 2017 Author Posted April 4, 2017 @Havouza said in What's the best way to test new themes?: alwayspaws use Mac I'm glad you noticed:)
alwayspaws Posted April 4, 2017 Author Posted April 4, 2017 @jnsgioia said in What's the best way to test new themes?: Well, I know php and html and am very familiar with databases. It is the hooks and modules that I am having to figure out. :| I'm sorry I can't help with hooks and modules. You're ahead of me. I don't know php. Just HTML.
alwayspaws Posted April 4, 2017 Author Posted April 4, 2017 @jnsgioia said in What's the best way to test new themes?: @alwayspaws Firefox's inspector has come in handy more than once :) It doesn't seem to cooperate on a Mac.

Terminal displayed: sudo: apt-get: command not found What can I try next please? It seems I'm so close.
Traumflug Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 sudo: apt-get: command not found Obviously you have no Debian/Ubuntu based system, so I can't help much. Googling terms: LAMP (Linux), MAMP (Mac), perhaps even WAMP (Windows)
alwayspaws Posted April 5, 2017 Author Posted April 5, 2017 I'm on a Mac and already went through MAMP. I'll just use my online test sites. Thanks!
