I think it is a creative idea. However I am not sure if it is more clear than a good one page checkout where. The summary of your cart in their example is very simple and you would have some issues with leaving a message or seeing the estimated delivery time. But if none of that is an issue you could basically avoid the whole checkout page.

What I do like is the stripe checkout popup. I have something similar that I implemented myself directly on the checkout page. Does the TB Stripe module use the native stripe checkout popup already?

That's quite true. The tb checkout is much too long for my taste - I'd love to have it really simple.

I don't know. Do you have an example?

Yes, nice idea. Still it misses a lot of crucial things:

  • Can order only one product! If one looks very closely, multiples of this one product.
  • Trying to get out of the checkout ends up with an empty cart! Just can't leave that thing, e.g. for ordering later.
  • Customers will hate to be locked into checkout just because they choosed a size.
  • Can't review or change an order.
  • Only one payment method.
  • Zero shipping options (I guess, because I didn't enter a credit card number).
  • No shipping address distinct from the billing address.
  • No address additions.

I mean, if one takes the standard thirty bees one page checkout and removes all the options missing at stripe, one ends up with a pretty simple order page as well. And one can jump directly to that page if one wants to limit orders to one product.

What I like is the reduction in distraction, because the product page is kept as background during checkout.

The one page checkout never worked for me - I always get the 'no carrier available' error, see: https://forum.thirtybees.com/topic/235/no-carriers-available-error/6 I'd love to have something like this: https://forum.thirtybees.com/topic/573/modified-checkout-process-create-account-after-payment/6
