What to use when Tweeting from website to include images?

Question

Posted

When on a product page and I click the Tweet button, only text appears. The tweet looks like this:

Dog Shirt For Shelter And Rescue Dogs Printed with Adopt Me and Paw Print https://www.alwayspaws.com/dog-clothes/dog-shirt-for-shelter-and-rescue-dogs-printed-with-adopt-me-and-paw-print

but I want it to look like this:

Dog Shirt For Shelter And Rescue Dogs Printed with Adopt Me and Paw Print https://www.alwayspaws.com/dog-clothes/dog-shirt-for-shelter-and-rescue-dogs-printed-with-adopt-me-and-paw-print 0_1501109613730_adopt-me-dog-shirt-alert-available-for-adoption-blue-forum.jpg

Thanks!

You might try something like addthis or sharethis. Those should have more options. But since all social media platforms have different image size requirements some will be cut off. You might have to make an image for every tweet and facebook post.

For Twitter, will this do what I want and can it be done globally? If I need to add a lot of code to each product I may as well write the tweets.

@lesley Lesley, I haven't added this module yet, but will it show images? Do I have to create a twitter card for each product?

@alwayspaws Have you gone to https://cards-dev.twitter.com/validator and pasted one of your product detail page urls? Also review https://ritetag.com/ for the best hashtag to use in your twitter post. And, https://bitly.com/ to shorten those URLS and track them. Try making it a custom short link with product keyword.

Variate your social shares. Do you allow foot traffic to your store? Validate your store location with FourSquare in the US and Yelp for EU/Asia and use place tagging and "go live" with your phone for both social platforms and record a pet wearing your products. People love cute animal videos. Twitter allows 120 seconds. Create a call to action link with short URL on twitter post and call to action on editing video on facebook.

I saved all of this. I've used bitly in the past. I have pics of my dog wearing a couple of products and I posted a dog sweater video when the weather was cold. I need to make more of them. You're a wealth of information. Thank you!

Here's the pride of my life (my dog, not the tee shirt. lol)

@alwayspaws Your pet dog can be a personal brand advocate. Create G+ collections and put his name out there. I've seen some even create twitter accounts for their pet. You can also create an instagram account specifically for the pet dog. All links going back to product solutions.

@dprophitjr I can only use his pictures to a certain extent because he's a federally licensed service dog and isn't really meant for commercial use. I asked my trainer about that because I wasn't sure if I could even put him on my site.

Your ideas are excellent, however, I am reestablishing myself online after a couple of years hiatus and shutting down my previous site so I don't have time to create separate accounts for my dog. I have enough trouble maintaining my own. My top priority is to get the products online.

One of the first pages I created was my "about us" page. Who do you think is featured there? :)

I created my Google+ page for Always Paws. Thanks for the push!

Now I need eight more followers to get the custom URL. My personal G+ that I created and left all by itself has 19 followers so I put the new URL in my profile.

@alwayspaws Search for Google By Business. Make sure your G+ brand account is connected. You should have a verified local business badge by the company name. And if you could, I've gotten 3 fake reviews from some very hateful G+ bloggers that I have never even done business with. Can you make a review at http://bit.ly/Review-Me-On-Google to help my company?

Hi, Denver, I have the G+ brand connected. I posted a review for you at your link as well as on Facebook and liked your FB page. I also Tweeted and followed you. I wrote the review on Facebook but didn't select my biz page to post "from". I was afraid to delete it and start over in case FB doesn't like that.

You're incredibly helpful and I truly admire you and appreciate all of the advice you're giving me.

I plugged a few URLs into the https://cards-dev.twitter.com/validator and they look good. I just don't know where to add the code. Help, please?

When I went to set up https://bitly.com/ to shorten URLS, I had an account there already but the last time I used it was in 2013 with my other pseudonym.

The last post was about the death of Paul Walker. :(

It's absolutely brilliant to suggest using the product keyword for the custom short link! I created a short link and thought it was good for all posts, but it's only good for one time (without paying for enterprise), so I really like your suggestion!

Pinterest validated my rich Pin!

Ritetag didn't like anything I put in, so I'm saving it for a less labor-intensive day / week / month!

I have eight followers on G+ now and need just two more before they change their rules so I can get my vanity URL.

@alwayspaws i use the follow code at header.tpl before ends

you must replace allwayspaws-data in the code with your twitter-data and change the allwayspaws-logo and favicon path

it works for me with facebook, twitter & co

<meta property="og:title" content="{$meta_title|escape:'htmlall':'UTF-8'}"/> <meta property="og:url" content="https://{$smarty.server.HTTP_HOST}{$smarty.server.REQUEST_URI}"/> <meta property="og:site_name" content="{$shop_name|escape:'htmlall':'UTF-8'}"/> <meta property="og:type" content="onlineshop"> <meta property="og:description" content="{$meta_description|escape:html:'UTF-8'}"> {if $page_name=='product'} <meta property="og:image" content="{$link->getImageLink($product->link_rewrite, $cover.id_image, 'large_default')}"> {else} <meta property="og:image" content="https://allwayspaws.com/img/favicon-192.png" /> {/if} <!-- twitter card--> <meta name="twitter:site" content="@allwayspaws"> <meta name="twitter:creator" content="@allwayspaws"> <meta name="twitter:title" content="{$meta_title|escape:'html':'UTF-8'}"> <meta name="twitter:description" content="{$meta_description|escape:'html':'UTF-8'}"> <meta name="twitter:url" content="https://{$smarty.server.HTTP_HOST}{$smarty.server.REQUEST_URI}"> {if $page_name == "product"} <meta name="twitter:card" content="product"> <meta name="twitter:image" content="{$link->getImageLink($product->link_rewrite, $cover.id_image, 'large_default')}"> <meta name="twitter:data1" content="{$this->context->currency->sign}{$product->price}"> <meta name="twitter:label1" content="Price"> {else} <meta name="twitter:card" content="product"> <meta name="twitter:card" content="summary"> <meta name="twitter:image" content="https://allwayspaws.com/img/allwayspaws-logo-allwayspaws.jpg"> {/if} <!-- twitter card-->
