Question

Posted (edited)

So, I've got this new error poping up  when I try and edit a product, any thoughts on how I can fix it?  I went to bleeding edge hoping that would somehow fix it, it did not.

As you can tell, I can now no longer get to the Images down to the Suppliers tabs....not good

hmmm.  so i even did a clean install, and it still does this.  Must be a server thing, but what could it be?  I get the following in my server error logs..

This error is part of the most recent tweaks and optimisations.

Please, wait for a fix today.

couldnt be part of a recent tweak, as it is happening for me on a clean 1.4.0 install, as well as bleeding edge.  IF i goto one product, it typically works for me, usually, but when i try to goto the next product and edit it, the error will occur, and from there out....

Sorry, wrong thread. I was referring to the other issue with the cart.

I don't think this is issue in core, or at application level (of course I could be wrong)

Most likely you have some security apache/nginx module (mod_security maybe) that evaluated request as threat, and blocked it.

You should check your server logs, to make sure that request made it to PHP level, and was not blocked by apache/nginx before

The 2nd pic i shared was from my server log, after trying to edit a product...

I'd like to re-iterate that most times when I go into edit a product, that it works once, but when I go and try to edit another right away, it then errors out on me.  I am using Bleeding Edge as of today, on php 8.0 if it matters, which it doesnt seems to, as I'm running 1.4.0 on another system, running on php 7.4, and its doing the same thing.

It's definetly some sort of server issue/misconfiguration.

I've never seen such issue since the PS times.

So I call my host and say what?  What kinda problem am I telling them I have?  Cause we both know that they arent going to give a rats ass about me, and the problems I'm having with one piece of software.  I need this problem resolved as I cannot edit products atm.

Tell them you have this error:

https://www.google.com/search?q=client+denied+by+server+configuration&oq=client+denied&aqs=chrome.0.0i512j69i57j0i512l8.6372j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

and that some parts of your admin sectiond don't load.

In those results there are few fix proposals but I'm not sure if they are not security issues if applied. May be somebody may advice. The commands are different for apache 2.2 and 2.4, that's why I asked. Contact your host and they will know what to do for sure.

Also there are results for page_speed conflicts, mod_security conflicts, etc. Might be this also.

On various hostings with Linux or Unix systems (FreeBSD), with apache, nginx or litespeed servers, with thirty bees versions 1.4.0 or 1.5.0, with PHP versions 7.4, 8.0, 8.1 or 8.2 I NEVER have a problem editing product.
Also, if your web hosting doesn't know how to properly configure your servers, it's best to change web hosting.

Well, I opened up a free hosting account, it does the same thing....  I assume this is some sort of file issue, and not a server issue, or a db issue.  Remember, you edit a product, then go edit another, then another, i may not get it the first time i try, but the error will pop up, and make it so I cant edit the product.  I guess the error is a little different, here it is on a free hosting site....

I have escalated this issue with my host, here is the response after 2-3 days....

Thank you for contacting us.

We have received an escalated case on your behalf from our Support team regarding your Plesk server configuration - Error.

Firstly, we apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced and that we were unable to address your concerns prior to escalating to the Plesk.

Below is Plesk reply for your issue:

The problem with mixed content is platform-independent, i.e., it arises from having an HTTPS-protected website loading HTTP, unsecured files and scripts. Please double-check with 30Bs what are the alternatives to enforce HTTPS on the whole website, such as plugins.

Also, it would be great if they could provide evidence of their statement, preferably with details so we can investigate further.

Thank you for your patience in this matter and again I apologize for any inconvenience caused. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

It might, it might not. Depending on the type. If it's a free one most certainly not, the cheapest ones are also not wildcard (just non-www and www subdomains).

so I guess I'm looking for a new host, if anyone has any suggestions send em my way please.  If you dont feel it's right to advertise them here on the forum, pm me...

thanks

also, on every site ive installed 1.4.0 on, or upgraded to bleeding edge, paid hosting, or free hosting, the site is doing the same thing.  Are you sure there is not an issue going from product to product editing them?  As I posted before, the error usually doesnt happen on the first product i edit, it happens when i jump back, then edit another, then jump back, and edit another, in a very short time, not actually doing any edits, just jumping to a new product.

No need to change hosts if you don't have other issues.

If you have let's encrypt SSL on the main domain go to yoyr control panel and simply issue new certificate for the subdomain. If this does not work we will try something else.

Regarding your edit - it doesn ot happen for the majority of us, so it's some sort of server misconfiguration/conflict. I know the type of error but as I said before I have not seen it since the PS days and it's very hard to reproduce as each server configuration is slightly different and there are plenty of things that can mess app.
