  1. Blogs are ok but seem to really need a better framework to contain/manage them.

The Blog section is just one blog after the other and they cant be organised. Users should be able to see the blogs organised properly, by category of blog type or by category of product type, or by date, author etc. and with a search function within the blog section for blog content. Probably the main search function should search blog content as well as product data and display results by product and blog content in seperate sections on the results display. This could be optional though as not everyone would want that.

The should have better commenting and comment management too. there's only disqus, but really there should be other social commenting as well.

Thoughts on this? Any other ideas?

  2. I've been having a battle with Google who want to place a single delivery charge on each item listed in Merchant Services.

These guys do not support Dynamic Pricing and the unending complexity of all the factors that affect a delivery price depending on the user choices and spatial location, warehouse stock and location, product, and combination dimensions and options etc.

They are basically forcing me to pick one price for each product thats above the maximum price any one would actually get charged, in order to comply with Google policy makers.

I've said the only true statement that covers every situation is to state "Delivery Charges May Apply" . They refuse to do this.

Has anyone got a work around for dealing with Google over this.

Yes that is indeed great, I wish I'd known that before. If we arent using the Advanced EU compliance module, do you know where we can Add/ Remove the Tax Inc/excl label, and ideally edit it (With the tax name) (Other than changing it in the Translation section)

  4. Yes, TB is technically excellent but as you can see its not too zippy on user or customer support....  you'll need to be able to resolve things a lot yourself. The upside of that is that you will learn a lot as you do.

You'll need TLS 2.0 before you go anywhere, so thats the first thing to sort. That's not a TB issue that's a server issue just google how to resolve that.

The rest of it sounds to me like it would be fine if you had the latest core codebase, so thats job #2, go to Core Updater in the Preferences Menu.

  5. Does anyone know of a system that  can map and import products, variants and EAN's of multiple supplier systems via cron, merge and allow management of that data along with an API to control various permissions of the data and then export the final results from that system into an ecommerce platform like tb?

chex uses different payment discovery API that standard checkout page.

Standard checkout calls hook 'displayPayment' that returns arbitrary html / js code that should be injected into the page. Chex does not do this, as it would not be able to control the page flow if it was constructed randomly. Instead, it uses hook 'displayPaymentEU', that returns list of payment options together with action to be performed. The result is the same as when you enabled 'Advanced EU Compliance' module checkout page.

Ok, this sounds pretty difficult to move past for good reason.

Probably its best to encourage people to use the traditional methods to sign up rather than using the checkout to sign up, this way they can have the other features like those we've mentioned...

Is there some text we can add in the Chex checkout under "Personal Details" along the lines of "This section enables fast checkout. For faster full service registration including referral codes and faster Autoaddress completion please click here (/my-account). Your items in the cart will be saved if you do this and you will be returned to this cart once its done".

I realise not everyone would want this, so maybe could be set up in Settings?

This seems like a very quick and easy way to circumvent the problem rather than battling with issues you mentioned.

  7. Just before I got this module I also got Google Maps Address auto completer and  Krona.. Chex does not seem to play with either of these.

Krona adds a referral code and Google maps adds the map and validates the address during registration and work fine on Niara.

Is Chex set up to allow these types of things? Or am I doing something wrong with configuration?

  8. Problem solved as you guys identified... was the Watermark module... Installing it created .htaccess changes.... These changes seem to have not been undone when uninstalled....

Solution for others' information (provided by @datakick)was to remove/comment the following from .htaccess in the root folder (ensure Rewrite Engine left On)

    # start ~ module watermark section
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    Options +FollowSymLinks
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond expr "! %{HTTP_REFERER} -strmatch '*://%{HTTP_HOST}*/admindir/*'"
    RewriteRule [0-9/]+/[0-9]+\.jpg$ - [F]
    </IfModule>
    # end ~ module watermark section

After removing the module server error log

    [Wed Nov 02 09:21:03.036116 2022] [core:alert] [pid 31153:tid 47073019844352] [client ip address] /home/xyx/public_html/.htaccess: </IfModule> without matching <IfModule> section

  9. Image Links that used to work fine are now getting 403 errors.

ie https://xyz.com/405/(product url).jpg used to be fine, now its  a 403 error

The theme version works ok  ie https://xyz.com/405-Niara_thickbox/(product url).jpg but not in all cases.

This means that catalogues outside the website are not able to upload the images and the catalogue data is being rejected and catalogue products being removed until problem fixed and the 403 error goes away.

  10. Could Block Image Slider be updated to :

    1/ To display video. (Constraints)

2/ Each Slide List item Conditionally for Country as well as language (Im thinking based on Cloudflare country headers or whatever else works better)

3/ permit multiple sliders in different locations, even alongside another. (because two can be made to fit width wise, but not functionality wise) Ideally instead of using pixel count, use, % of screen. Not exactly a priority but a maybe.

4/ Interact better with blogs or products so we can just select a blog or product to use and and it will dynamically use relevant pics and text from that, but where the text can be overridden.

5/ Expiry Date for a list item so after that date it is disabled (disable module if there's no other valid items in the list)

Or do we just keep as is and go buy one from the market if we want a good one?

Yes, Sunny has a TB version of Panda V1 that is TB compatible. You can download it with his standard v1 license.

Thanks, Did Sunny do a One page checkout version in Panda V1? Ive only found a full checkout process thus far...

Panda is compatible with 1.6 version only up to V1.4.5 For PS1.6 and V1.5.3 For TB.

that is the V1 of Panda.

Now the "up to date" version is V2 now 2.7.0 and it's only gonna work with presta 1.7, it has been a long time that sunny dropped ps 1.6 and TB support.

@zenare you saying Panda V1 is compatible with current tb version?

Oh ok. That sounds interesting. A main issue I see in such projects: hold up data quality high. How to make sure, that you are "merging" excact same products, but not slightly different ones.

I have to do this for 20 suppliers or so. And you can't imagine, how big their data mess is...

Yes crucial indeed. In the end the "product" could be quite non specific to type ie "Hammer".  The devil will be in the detail of the combinations I should think, exactly what variant is in stock by whom and where.

Not all of this detail is available in the current system, neither is the functionality ... and the root unique codes that formally and informally identify everything is likely to be messy also I agree.

I know this concept from big companies. A lot of others have tried to establish some kind of marketplace, but most of them fail. If I had something like that in mind, I would hire 50 devs / 10 marketers and start all over again.

Maybe your idea is very small. Then there might be a module for it. I have seen such stuff before. Maybe from webkul.

It's a big concept yes. Years ago I was involved in trying to establish one for a big company. Although the concept is big it's just data structure and how it gets sold.  Although there are Multi Vendor Marketplaces, this concept blends the data into one product and so they can't be used since Multi Vendor assigns one owner to each product.

There's no Vertical Marketplace modules that I know of.

However I have a plan anyway of sorts that  I'm working through doesn't require ridiculous budgets.

  15. Has anyone worked on the concept of a vertical marketplace on TB or elsewhere?

This is where products are the top level and retailers/retailer details are attributes of a product.

ie Product page shows for example a Hammer..... the viewer can see where the hammer and different types of hammer is sold and select a retail outlet and can see different outlets pricing and options - to buy it from.

That functionality is not implemented in core at the moment. We actually have this on our todo list. It's not only facebook that has issues with this, this also prevents proper GMC links for combinations, reviews associated with specific combinations, etc...

Yes quite significant this. Great that it's in the works to fix. Hopefully sooner than later as cannot really push the shop anywhere with all the combination images wrong, google Facebook etc ...  Hopefully in the meantime I can come up with some query in Datakick module to map the correct image to the combination.

  17. If I post the link of a combination in it shows up correctly on the product page, but not on social media. In places like Facebook, it shows the default image for the product not the combination image. This is a bit annoying when I post the combination to customers who want to see the blue product, so I post them that, but they only see the red variant in front of them on social media.

In a similar problem which could be technically related, if I request a pull for the images related to a combination, it pulls the default product image and not the combination image.  For example if I request images for the blue variant, the image_link field contains the product default image, not the combination image. The image_link field for that combination should contain that combination's image link, not the product's default image link.

If I post this to say, my Facebook shop, the title says "Blue Product" and but actually displays the red product so this is not great, it looks pretty amateur to shop visitors, this is because image_link is wrong

i do have this module, but obviously to stupid to find this function :D...:/

Lol yes I know the feeling... It's a powerful module to extract and manage whatever you want but first you have to tell it exactly what you want, and it doesn't do long heartwarming chats over coffee to discuss things very well lol.

  19. Im about to try.... (so I dont really qualify to answer) but it seems to be all about having the right videos with the right targets. Im having some videos made up and Im going to use buffer to try but my channel is basically non existant so I expect no results. Ill also the videos elsewhere so all might not be lost.

Its all about video it seems on social so spending time perfecting the art doesnt seem totally a waste of time.

Im basically going to use buffer as a social media thing because it does three channels including tiktok for free.

The other social media platforms tend to be just doing twitter and zuckerberg so Ill try these guys
