Can I ask everyone their thoughts on SEO modules and if they really do work as at the moment I don't seem to have any Meta details for my products .. Or is it better to do them all yourself I found this 1 (just remove the space if needed) codecanyon .net/item/prestashop-seo-manager/4662419?WT.ac=categoryitem&WT.zauthor=Onasusweb As when I check this is what is returned.. Even if it is a quick fix till I can do them manually

I don't have any experience with this specific module but generally it is best to do them yourself. Google does scrape this data itself from your page if none is provided.

I wouldn't personally spend money on such modules. Also, that module has not been updated since 2016.

Is there specific functionality here you like?

No not really, Just didn't have all the other stuff that most other have like friendly url's which are already done here

@andyc I have that module and it's actually pretty good. I have experienced some troubles with the cron jobs but otherwise it works fine and I like the features.

The downside with it is that Onasusweb really suck. They tell people all the time that there will be an update soon but it's been over 2 years since last update. They are also not very responsive to emails.

I do see that , been reading reviews etc and it does put me off . My choosing that was also down to cost as I only want it for a temporary solution as my next site has over 1200 products and this 1 was trying to get it going before xmas , but even a module is probably to late now

@AndyC you can test this module with my changes - its your own risk but if you save it -> delete number etc from name before seo.... or rename it to "seopupdater zip" before you install it

@colorful-ant ..Hi I'm finally using your module and it worked well the first time around ,but now am getting a 500 server error with this code on the category side ,the product side has worked very well.

Have you any idea what this could be.. If not no worries as can go though them manually if need be

You cant use mysql_error() with php 7. https://www.php.net/manual/en/function.mysql-error.php

I am sorry about any problems.
I myself adapted the module (from the Prestashop forum) for me to set up meta-data for the products with a click. I had already used the module in my Prestasshop before switching to TB. I personally adapted changes, such as the text length for the meta-description of the products.
When I changed the php version from 5x to 7x, I changed only the lines for the products and not for the categories. Sorrrrrryyyyyyyyyyy.

I have never used the option for the categories, as I have always set this manually and will stick to it.

For the categories you have to change some lines for php 7+ in the file "seoupdater.php".
It's been a few months since I did that.

No worries at all 🙂 ..Just thanks for helpful ..Besides I got most of it done , I'll finish off doing 1 at a time and editing as well.. I think it also removed all my images from my short description.. Have just gone though them all and returned them , all 900 or so , took forever... So if you tell me there was a short cut I'll ....................

I have the program, and it's quite excellent. I had some issues with the cron jobs, but everything else works good and I appreciate the features.

The disadvantage is that Onasusweb is terrible. They keep telling people that there will be an update soon, yet it's been nearly two years since the last one. They are also slow to respond to emails.

The module does not work for me and I had to uninstall it.

It was working tremendous time savings but after the migration to TB it stopped working.
