Recurring payments in thirty bees

I like to follow Amazon’s lead on things, I like the way their system works in the frontend https://content.screencast.com/users/PrestaLesley/folders/Snagit(6)/media/26aa6f88-7575-407e-b11f-4b319a3dc582/06.21.2017-17.06.png

Yes, this frontend appears to have just the right feature set.

I also often consider what Amazon does when making eCommerce decisions.

For this particular feature though I don't think Amazon covers quite everything. Amazon's subscriptions are focused on physical products (and they do an excellent job of it!) while 30bz's planned subscriptions should IMO cover physical products, services, and virtual products. Services in particular would benefit from things like partial refund options.

@dynambee Of couse we need to adapt it to any PS/TB type of product. I am very interested in the virtual product part as I resell servers and hosting myself. However I don't think they differ that much in this aspect, as the mainly difference is the shipping (and eventually the access to the file of virtual products). If we get a solid base to work on, the rest will be easier to adapt on the product type.

Ooooooh! This is wonderful news! I have two websites, one on TB, one on Joomla and they have both elements of recurring payments. I will chime in soon with an extensive list of what I am looking for! I have not seen one module so far that fits my needs or requirements and everything we managed so far, is a hodgepodge. The closest that comes to what we need is a module for PS 1.6 made by Aduler but it still falls way short on many respects. It used to run on PayPal and now does on Stripe.

I don't use recurring payments but hope this helps someone.
https://gocardless.com/ have a Prestashop 1.6 module and pages for developers or "partners".
They use direct debits rather than card payments, and I don't know what countries they're good for, but they have a page and contact for international payments. They mainly do recurring payments and the direct debit system is cheap here in the UK.

They're going to have to charge tax -  VAT - from next year apparently. I suppose this is a 20% price rise in the UK for people who can either claim most of it back if they trade over the VAT threshold which is £85,000 this year, or maybe there will be a special discount for sole traders who choose not to register. Details on the GoCardless website and Gov.uk

This would be a very good feature for TB as it's a feature that other platforms have though Magento tends to have this provided as expensive extensions; this would be a draw to people away from them platforms if it was part of the core as it's a growing trend in 2017.

This has to be done in conjunction with the payment providers due to the issues with PCI DSS compliance and storing customer card data. Many of the large payment providers allow for integration whereby they store the customer data in secure tokens on their PCI compliant servers. Both WorldPay and SagePay provide this service and they cover the UK though I don't know about the rest of Europe.

You might want to take a look at AheadWorks Magento extension for this to get some ideas of how they do it.

Hello from 2020. I disagree, for example here https://store.belvg.com/ you can find free Magento extensions. So hurry up!

Hello from 2020....  here https://store.belvg.com/ .....

If you can spot the booby-trap, their free Prestashop 1.6 subscriptions module is here:
https://module-presta.com/subscriptions.html
Their 360 spin module for PS1.6 broke my test site, though, and their other free modules much the same .

Errors build-up over a few days until they break the site. I had forgotten to keep backups. No wonder they making a living fixing faults in their own modules for $40 a time.

Apart from the booby-traps (unintentional I hope) the modules look neatly-coded and worth fixing. I mentioned another PS1.6 module further up the thread as well.
