gospodinwizard Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 (edited) I am having an issue getting all images to show properly in Block Featured Products. I am using Store Manager and have 3 storefronts set up. Regardless of what I do I can't get all the images to show properly in the block. I tried toggling friendly URLs, I've rebuilt the index, and I've switched themes. I have not reuploaded all the images or deleted and regenerated all the thumbnails. With over 43,000 products I rather dread doing that as it would obviously take quite some and I could well run into php timeout issues. Are there any good alternatives besides deleting and regenerating? Any guidance is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance... As a corollary question, is it better to establish one store and do all the uploads before or after enabling multistore? All my stores are using the same theme... AndyC Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 Do you not have backups on your server ...If this is my case I normally make a backup try and if it fails I just do a restore and try something else
veganline Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 prestools.com/Prestools-Suite-for-Prestashop-manual.pdf is worth installing. 13 - Images - needs the €42.35 Prestools Images Plugin if I remember right, but has helped me regenerate images that would otherwise timeout. I forget exactly how it can do more than the built-in thirtybees software; I just remember that it worked.
Traumflug Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 Thumbnails regeneration never times out, it just takes time. This is one of the things where thirty bees removed one of the well known PS pains. For investigation on what's going on, looking at the URL of one or two images and comparing it with images actually on disk is a good start. One can also turn off Pretty URLs to see these URLs directly, without Apache changing it on the fly.

Is there a way to make it multiprocess? because it is single process and that is a waste of resources.
veganline Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 Just noticed a thread about in on Thirtybees forums. The author is called Musicmaster and answers questionshttps://forum.thirtybees.com/topic/925-prestools-the-free-mass-edit-toolset
gospodinwizard Posted May 29, 2020 Author Posted May 29, 2020 I have gotten partly past this issue by using Store Manager's diagnostics to find missing images. Now I've run into the issue that images for a couple hundred products (out of around 43,000) just won't show up. What I find odd is I don't get a broken image link icon. There's just a blank square where the image should be AND when I right click and try to copy the image url or save the image it gives me info for a GIF image. None of the source images are GIFs and I have Preferences--> Images set to use JPEG. I have zero idea where the GIF came from or rather where the DB thinks the image came from since when you try to download them you are told "no file found".
Traumflug Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 A first step would be to look up whether these images exist on the server. Product images are stored in img/p/, then folders for the image number. One can find the image path in back office -> Catalog -> Products -> (click product) -> Images, hover over the image to see its URL. Images can be corrupted, zero size, missing, whatever.
Joint Systems Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 We are having a similar problem in some stores but not others though the same homefeatured module is being used. Some stores display the product images on the index page in the home folder and others do not even with the same theme? The images appear fine in the home directory. The images have been rebuilt in the preferences/image.
The Pellet Guy Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 Just throwing this out there as I had some image issues I can't recall which way around it was now .jpg and .JPG one worked one didnt show up, changing the extension fixed my issue
Joint Systems Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 (edited) I finally found the solution. If you use paint, IrfanView or other graphics program to change the jpg or JPG to a png file it miraculously shows up so long as you have .png files selected in preferences/images. This works only where some of the pictures weren't showing up not where none of the pictures in the featured products are showing up. The same pictures are being used in multiple TB shops work in some and not in others, and it does not matter if you are using the default theme or the community theme. The pictures show up in the home directory in all the shops whether they are .png of .jpg but only show up in featured or popular (depending if you are looking at the back office or popular on the public front side) in some of the stores though the image settings are the same. Another image problem is when you are adding images in some shops show up when you upload them in the process of choosing a main picture in others thy do not, either way once chosen they do show up in the folder. Image format Use JPEG. Use PNG only if the base image is in PNG format. Use PNG for all images. Then go to the home directory in the catalog assuming you are using the default 2 directory and use paint or irfanview or other graphics program that allows you to open and save an image in a different format and change it to .png when you save it. Go back to the home directory and edit the products image by adding the .png images and saving them as the cover image. For whatever reason the .png images show up in featured products whereas the .jpg don't in some TB installations. We are using ver 1.1 stable and bleeding edge. We also found that in some stores where none of the images were showing up in featured products once we transformed the format to .png they started to pop up. Another solution might also work but so far after trying switching themes resetting featured products, uninstalling and reinstalling featured products and even eracing the module and copying the module from a store where it was working all failed, but changing the image format did? Thanks for sharing! I have the same problem and I don't understand wich the solution is, can you please specify? I was using Store Manager and after lots of tries, I've just imported the products from database (PS 1.6) to database (TB 1.1.0). I copied all the /img/p directory and when click to regenerate thumbnails, it only shows this message constantly. I can't understand why is using that route, /home/muristar/public_html...? (Muristar is the domain). The images are there, and permissions are not the problem... Any idea to help? Thanks so much!
Joint Systems Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 I should have added more detail. Go to images under preferences. Under image format choose Image format Use JPEG. Use PNG only if the base image is in PNG format. Use PNG for all images.
