dynambee Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 It's possible to mix licenses in the same file, too, just messy. As long as substantial and important portions of the overall project are GPL then I'd be fine with that.
lesley Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 I think it is something we would have to consult with someone that knows more about ie a lawyer or someone very familiar with OSS. But in the end we are going to license the module in such a way that would make it impossible for people to make a paid module out of it. Even if we have to license just classes in the module itself that we have rewritten. Someone selling one of our free modules is not really an option for us and something we would enforce against.
lesley Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 We did it, we have launched the crowdfunding campaign for the the Elastic Search module, https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/elasticsearch-module-for-thirty-bees-ecommerce/x/16912097#/
dynambee Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Thank you @lesley and @mdekker! A few dollars sent into the project pool. Hope others are willing to contribute as well!
dynambee Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 I was very much looking forward to being able to "put my money where my mouth is" and happy to have been able to do so.
alwayspaws Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 @lesley said in Indiegogo ElasticSearch project: We did it, we have launched the crowdfunding campaign for the the Elastic Search module, https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/elasticsearch-module-for-thirty-bees-ecommerce/x/16912097#/ That happened faster than expected and is wonderful! Congratulations!
vincentdenkspel Posted July 13, 2017 Author Posted July 13, 2017 Now that the 1st crowdfunding project is online i really hope that all the voters for the elasticsearch module will contribute to the project. Within 15 hours almost half of the required money is funded. Please, please, please, lets make this first project a success !
rubben1985 Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 This is not a module that I will really use, but I wanted to make my little contribution to TB project and the people working in it. It is not too much because we invested all we have in our startup and we are not selling yet, but I hope it helps to make you feel that TB have compromised community :)
Baarssen Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 What if you dont have a creditcard but paypal and you want to support. Its only possible to contribute with creditcard at the moment
lesley Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 @Baarssen It is. We did not realize that indiegogo did not allow paypal until after we launched the campaign, which was kind of irritating. If you want to make a donate I can give you our paypal and we can honor the perks that way.
Baarssen Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 yes i can do that by paypal, wanted the small one from 75$ with presto changeo perk. @mdekker i know, paypal can be very difficult, when i first reached the 2000 euro goal i had no control over my account for about 2 months.
lesley Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 our paypal is set up as [email protected] I will be sending the perks out that have been unlocked so far before I leave the office tonight.
vincentdenkspel Posted July 14, 2017 Author Posted July 14, 2017 As backer of the elasticsearch campaign you will receive a request to complete a survey. I think it would be wise to address this issue of very limited payment option in the survey. I did . I find it unbelievable that they don't offer a lot more payment options. They should offer the most used payment offer for a specific country. There are service payment providers that operate globally.
lesley Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 I get the issue with paypal. One community member suggested we try to crowdfund on our own, without using a platform. I shut that down pretty quick, because paypal is a wildcard. They can suspend your account and freeze your funds pretty quickly and it is not something we could risk. As for the localized payments I am not too familiar with what they offer and what other countries use.
Baarssen Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Ofcourse creditcard is globally the most accepted and used payment method, but for instance here in the netherlands its not that common as for example in the united states. I am raised in a family who always told me to pay with what you have and not with what you expect to collect, so i am a littlebit old-fashioned in the payment methods i use, ofcourse i accept creditcard in my webshop ;) but thats because it gives me profit :) Maybe its an idea to mention in the first topic that it can also be done in this way. Just for the old fashioned shop owners among us
vincentdenkspel Posted July 14, 2017 Author Posted July 14, 2017 @lesley Maybe it worthwhile to do crowdfunding yourself in the future and use a globally operating payment provider such as ayden (https://www.adyen.com/payment-methods)
lesley Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 I do not think so, the potential for charge backs is too high. Part of the reason is using a platform is they take all the risks.
Guest Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 I've gone for the Presto-Chango 40% off voucher and paid with my credit card. This is the first crowdfunding I've ever done!

spidawebs Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 I see all the funds have now been raised to make this module. Great news!
alwayspaws Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 We are discussing this in two places, so here is the other one: https://forum.thirtybees.com/topic/202/let-s-talk-about-search/206
violinparts Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 @mdekker is this for the elasticsearch that is readily available in Cloudways? tks.
violinparts Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 What is the position of elasticsearch module is supposed to be? It causes the right block - static image in home page to drop.
