I was curious and I wanted to ask you something for a long time because you know the inner workings. When we upload product image the system makes couple of new files and when I check my site agains google page speed it always says they can be further compressed. Of course those advices are per their resolution and are most of those savings are from resizing them to lower res but this does not work for higher ones. Can't we use such services like kraken.io or resmushit to file down few more kb off those newly generated jpegs? Something like this resmush module but with more details and probably ajax upload to solve timeout problems like we had with image regeneration was solved in TB? Or can't we put those libaries in imagick module so those image metas be stripped by the module when generating the product images? And not uploaded somewhere and then downloaded - potentially speeding up image upload when creating products. Now if we want to optimize those images we have to pay for kraken and upload the file structure in folders and FTP them back on our server.

@lesley resmush.it had been used in such a module of PS but I doubt the savings count that much.

What 'tuto' do you need? It's 5 minutes to register and obtain key and 30 seconds to put it where @lesley advised... No need for 'ehow' style of tutos...

I read your article but do you think that we need to keep those file indefinitely or we can delete ones that are 1-2 months old as @Traumflug sugested in his PR? Disabling it in developing shop does not mean anything because if there's a bonus as you sugest I would like to have this turned on when I launch...

Every time you touch the generator the quantities of those new combinations are zero-ed... Keep that in minde. It doesn't matter that you had them with available stock just few clicks ago, the patform does them like brand new combo.

Mine is nearly 300 mb and I'm still not working with this shop. @lesley what do you think is the real bonus if any of having those files indefinetly? And does @Traumflug 's suggestion in the PR that one month worth of cache here is fine? This will reduce the size in half for me and probably by much more for active shops...

But if we keep the short format then merchants will have problems when they need the long one. The short can be easily extracted when needed... And yet again- both DHL and TNT refuse postal codes with only 4 numbers for Argentina (personal experience) so in the first case before I pushed this PR I needed to ask the customer to supply additional info.

This has to be fixed in PS before it was forked to TB but I can't be sure.

You will probably have to enable left column in your theme in order to display this block on all pages. If you want to show it only on homepage I think it could be done.

@30knees - if you upload the img folder @ kraken.io it will compress it even further but I would not hassle to do so for 4-5% saved size, especially with the free plan where you can't upload folders. Try resmush.it if you are into this type of stuff. I don't belive that 10kb less data on the product page will rank you first in your niche, many more factors are more important both on desktop and mobile than this. Of course it's nice to see those numbers go higher/lower but most of the time they don't mean anything...

Yes, just when you copy the embed code @ youtube uncheck most of the checkboxes so that the vid appears clear, without controls, etc...

It doesn't matter if you minimize them. The original you upload is not shown anywhere to the customer. If you have additional module which uploads the newly generated files to the service and then download and replace them this is different. This module doesn't minimize the images but it provides better quality and more options.

Of course. Use some html block for whatever you want and upload your vid to youtube and embed it.

As I said above - there are too many variables in this scenario and you have to give us more information. If you don't speak English you can write in whatever you like google will translate for us so we can help you.

There's no module available i believe. You have to use custom service for that.

If you're using advanced stock managment you have to select which carriers service which warehouse too. In this case if you have 2 or more products from different warehouses only the carriers that service all will show up.

Btw - I'm getting the same notification all over the place - homepage, categories, etc... And I'm not using AEUC just every link is red. What does it mean?

Don't start over - that way you will know where's the issue - give us screenshots of your quantities tabs and combination tabs so we can give more hints ... ;)

As I said you have to understand that 'combination' is different from 'attribute'. One combination can have one or multiple attributes. And if you had one combo with one attribute and then you decide to add second or even third attribute the system considers this to be brand new combination and leaves you to input your brand new stock. As if I had one pair of jeans with size S, M and L... Firstly I stocked only blue but later the manufacturer rolled out them in pink aswell - I decide to stock them too and use the current product in my shop. As @colorful-ant showed above I can use the combination generator to ease my work and add the new color which will leave me with 6 combinations - blue SML, pink SML... All of which will have 0 quantity because the system can't know what you have altered in your combination and in order to prevent stock levels issues it simply delete all available stock from those combos. This message you receive in the product page is when you have size L and size S let's say and you select from the dropdown list a combination without stock available for sale. The system hides the button and displays that message. If you run out of stock of all of the combos the message will be different and again with hidden button.

The combination can have 1 or many attributes so if you add blue and size L you have 1 combination. If you have S,M,L and blue and red you have 6 combinations. When you add some attribute to the existing combinations the system thinks it's brand new combo and as I said you have to manually add new quantities. Regarding the cart and checkout - why you need those hiden? If I have added 2 shirts in blue but during checkout I decide that I want to remove one of them how I can do that? It's also considered that such info there is user friendly and if you remove it I doubt you will have many orders.

I would recommend option 1.
